The “Light” of this Thursday reveals that we are not worthy to untie His sandals and our need to be “born again.” As we pray today, let us pray that as Jesus humbled Himself to be baptized in the Jordan River, ultimately to sanctify it, that we humbly permit ourselves to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and be fully “born again.”
Life is better this Thursday in the “Light!” As we recall Jesus’ proclamation of the Kingdom and His message of forgiveness, let us examine our consciences as we prepare to realize the sanctifying grace of His forgiveness. Is there a Priest handy? John 20:23.
Our Wednesays are “Glorious” as we invoke the Holy Spirit to come upon us, as it did at Pentecost to Mary and the disciples, and “enkindle in us” the fire of His love. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit illuminate for us the beauty and peace of a life shared with Jesus Christ. To Jesus Through Mary.
”Sorrowful” Tuesdays carry us to our Lord’s Passion and Crucifixion. As we meditate upon Jesus’ praying in the Garden, we must know that we are called to follow that example of seeking that communication with our Father. “Pray without ceasing” means to constantly share in His life with our love. 1 Thess. 5: 16-18.
We are “Joyful” on Mondays as we consider the role of Mary in the Gospel truths. Mary is the first perfect Christian and because God selected her to be the vessel for the coming of His Son, Mary is worthy of our love, honor, and respect. As dutiful to the Commandments, we also follow the 4th Commandment and Honor our Blessed Mother. “Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness…”
”Glorious” Sundays take us to the Resurrcetion scene, where Mary Magdalene does not recognize the risen Jesus until he calls her name: “Mary, Mary.” As we pray today, let us recall that scene and pray that when Jesus calls our name, we are blessed with the hopeful faith of Mary Magdalene to recognize the risen Jesus in our midst. Vivat Jesus!
“Joyful” Saturdays transport us to Mary’s side as her baby is about to be born. That Our Father’s Son, the Divine Christ, would be born into such humble surroundings reminds us to embrace humility as a virtue. May we learn not to strive for worldy materials but rather strive to fullfill our baptismal vows fully and faithfully. “Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known…”
Our Fridays are “Sorrowful” as we revisit the Lord’s Passion. As we contemplate the physical pain that our Lord endured, let us also call to mind the instances where we inflicted not physical pain but emotional pain on others. Today, let us pray for forgiveness and and a deep desire for conversion and reconciliation. “…O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended thee….
Thursdays are filled with the “Light” of the Holy Spirit. As the servants in Cana filled the jars with water so that Jesus could perform his miracle of transforming the water into wine, let us fill ourselves with knowledge of Christ and of His church so that He, through the Holy Spirit, may miraculously transform us as well.
“Glorious” Wednesdays grant us the opportunity to celebrate our Christian faith as we meditate upon the Resurrection. Let us pray today for the faithful joy that Mary magdalene felt when she realized that Jesus had risen- as promised.
