“Luminous” Thursdays permit us the opportunity to appreciate the extraordinary gift that Jesus bestowed upon us- the gift of Himself. In the Last Supper, the first liturgy, Jesus carefully and deliberately clearly set forth the gift he provided and wished for us. “Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.’ “ Luke 22: 19. Lord, grant me a listening and discerning faith so that when I participate in the liturgy and receive the Holy Eucharist, I can understand just how carefully and lovingly you provided this gift to me.
