Ave Maria! The Summer of 2014 has been a Marian Summer!

Consecration-TJTM-MQH MASS OF TOTAL CONSECRATION. Friday, August 22, 2014. This Summer’s Marian classes culminate in a Mass of Total Consecration on the Feast Day of the Queenship of Mary on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Valle in San Juan, Texas at 7:00 p.m. The principal celebrant at the Mass of Total Consecration is Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM as several of his brother priests from throughout the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas, USA concelebrate at this special Mass.

The Mass is a standard liturgy with special time reserved for those who choose to do so to renew their baptismal vows and to undertake the Act of Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary. Many have been preparing over a 33 day period beginning on July 20th so this is a very meaningful and spiritually moving milestone for many.

We invite all to wear white garments to the Mass- a white shirt, blouse, or dress- to symbolize the purity accompanying the renewal of our baptismal vows. Those who attended the Mass of Consecration on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary in 2012 will recall the sea of beautiful white that filled the Basilica with 2,500 faithful Catholics renewing their baptismal vows as they promised to totally consecrate themselves, as holy slaves, to Jesus through Mary, his Most Holy Mother.

It is customary to make an offering of some sort to our Lady as a part of the Act of Total Consecration so typically a rose is offered to the “mystical rose” of our Lord. Roses will be sold by the Basilica at the doors to the church when entering to make the offering convenient and to support the work of the Basilica.

If you have previously undertaken the Act of Total Consecration according to the writings of St. Louis de Montfort, this Mass would be an excellent opportunity for you to renew your consecration and affirm your life to Jesus Through Mary, even if you haven’t been involved in this summer’s program.

All are invited. Families, children, and all are invited to help us gather on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary so that we can, like Jesus, follow the 4th Commandment and “honor our mother,” the same mother whom Jesus himself bequeathed to us from the Cross. John 19:27. Ours is to simply to accept this gift and take her into our homes and into our hearts.

Join us. Invite a loved one.

If you can’t make it in person from your corner of the world, RMPTR is pleased to announce that the Mass of Consecration will be available for the entire world to participate via live video stream! Marian Summer 2014

Real Men Pray the Rosary, Inc. (RMPTR) invites you to join us in making the summer of 2014 a Marian Summer, a memorable summer of spiritual journey to a closer relationship with Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ.  RMPTR is blessed to partner with RMPTR Advisory Board member Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM and the Company of Mary in coordinating regional classes in Preparation for  Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary according to the writings of St. Louis de Montfort and a Renewal of Total Consecration, or Living Total Consecration here in deep South Texas. The South Texas USA area class schedule as of July 7, 2014 is available here. Join us at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, Texas for the Mass of Consecration and Renewal on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, Friday, August 22, 2014 at 7:00pm More details of the South Texas USA Mass of Consecration and Renewal will follow as time arrives.

For those who do not reside in South Texas, you may, of course, undertake your preparation journey where you live and then make plans to join us at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, Texas for the Mass of Consecration and Renewal on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, Friday, August 22, 2014 at 7:00pm. You may also choose to schedule a Mass of Consecration or Renewal in your own parish or privately recite the Act of Consecration on your own.

RMPTR is pleased to announce that the Mass of Consecration will be available for the entire world to participate via live video stream! RMPTR will collaborate with Shalom Media USA to broadcast the Mass in ultra high definition through the RMPTR website and the Shalom World TV network available at their website and share this amazing spiritual experience with the world.

Through these South Texas USA area classes, Fr. Hugh will unveil the first draft of his new book on “Living Total Consecration: Walking The Way of Holy Slavery.” As he did with his previous book in the summer of 2012, “Preparation for Total Consecration“, this new book will be tested with those who attend these region-wide classes before it is finalized and, after input from those who participate in these classes, forwarded to the printer for a 2015 publication date. Fr. Hugh has also recorded supplementary videos, which complement the written materials, to be utilized in the classes.

The South Texas USA classes will operate three tracks simultaneously. One track will offer the opportunity to renew one’s Total Consecration. St. Louis de Montfort urged that once one had undertaken the total consecration, it should be renewed at least once a year. These classes and Fr. Hugh’s new book will offer the opportunity to renew that consecration for those who have previously undertaken the Act of Consecration. The other two tracks will offer classes following Fr. Hugh’s popular book, “Preparation for Total Consecration” in English and in Spanish for those who wish to prepare for Total Consecration according to the writings of St. Louis de Montfort- for either the first time or as part of a renewal.

Whichever path one chooses, the path will be a rewarding and intimate journey to Jesus Through Mary. Choose a track for yourself and your loved ones. Coordinate a class in your parish. You certainly don’t have to be located in South Texas to coordinate a class or undertake the consecration or a renewal thereof. Order the materials here and begin the journey on your own or with a group. Join us for the Mass of Consecration and Renewal here at our beautiful Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in South Texas USA if your schedule permits. If not, then undertake the Act of Consecration by yourself, or with a group in your own way. Perhaps with a Mass of Consecration or Renewal in your own parish.

Total Consecration. Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary, or “Holy Slavery” as St. Louis de Montfort himself called it, provides the opportunity to renew one’s baptismal vows after a 33 day period of reflection and preparation. The goal is to submit ourselves to Jesus Christ through the direct intercession of Mary by submitting ourselves to her so that she may lead us directly to her son. By submiting ourselves to her completely, she teaches us to “Do whatever he tells you.” John 2:5. The Act of Consecration is the first step in a journey to a spirituality based on full participation in the life of Jesus Christ through Mary. It is recommended that the Act of Consecration be undertaken on a Marian Feast Day. We have selected the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, August 22, 2014, as our Consecration day for Marian Summer 2014. The 33 day period for this Marian Feast Day thus begins on July 20, 2014. There is still time to order your materials and begin the journey with us now.

Written Materials and Videos. The written materials for Preparation for  Total Consecration  in English and in Spanish, along with the Fr. Hugh Gillespie videos, are available for parishes and groups to order at Montfort Publications  at this site. If you order by phone, please inform Ms. Edith Matlock that you are part of the Real Men Pray The Rosary Marian Summer 2014 initiative and are ordering from a parish. A discount may be available although we should consider that the Montfort Priests, the Company of Mary, do fund their ministry in part with the revenues generated from its publications.

Preparation of the Total Consecration

The materials for “Living Total Consecration: Walking The Way of Holy Slavery,” Fr. Hugh’s new book, are not available as of this writing. Once Fr. Hugh has finished the written materials though, RMPTR will photocopy  them in time for the South Texas classes to begin in early July. A small reproduction charge of $10.00 per book may be requested to assist in covering the reproduction cost. In South Texas, therefore, we will need a good headcount as soon as possible. The accompanying videos have already been produced but by the time we gather at our next planning meeting, we hope to have a head count on the number that need to be photocopied so that we may distribute to the coordinators of the various parishes and groups.

Be sure to save the following dates on your summer calendar:

Friday, August 22, 2014. These Marian classes will build, over a 33 day or so period, towards a Mass of Renewal & Mass of Consecration on the Feast Day of the Queenship of Mary on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Valle in San Juan, Texas at 7:00 p.m.. Totus Tuus.

Priests. Please invite your favorite priest to concelebrate the Mass with Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM on Friday, August 22, 2014. Several of our beloved Brownsville Diocesan priests will be concelebrating the Mass of Consecration and Renewal. Please download an  Invitation To Priests-Marian Summer 2014.

Music Ministry. As part of this Marian Summer 21014, each parish might consider seeking out people in their parish who has musical talent and wants to share their talents with their parish during their consecration meetings. Additionally, if they were interested, these folks could take a further step and participate in the music ministry for the Mass of Consecration. Ruben & Michele Galvan have volunteered, as they did in 2012, to help direct music ministers from the different South Texas parishes and groups to join together and form a Consecration Choir to help us celebrate and honor our Blessed Mother during the Mass of Consecration at the Basilica. If you are interested in consecrating your talents to our Blessed Mother for this great celebration, please email Ruben at rugalvan@gmail.com with the subject line “Music for Mary.”

Live Broadcast. RMPTR is pleased to offer via SHALOM WORLD USA a LIVE high-definition, commercial-free broadcast of the Mass of Consecration and Renewal on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, Friday, August 22, 2014 beginning at 8:00PM EST/7:00PM CST,  at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle. SHALOM WORLD is available on Roku, Amazon Fire HD, Kindle Fire, Samsung Smart TV, will soon be available on the iPad and Android tablets, and can be viewed online atwww.ShalomWorld.org/live.

Saturday, August 23, 2014. The other important date will be the following day, Saturday, August 23, 2014. On that date, RMPTR will host an “An Evening of Grace.” Our guests will be Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM and EWTN personality and prolific author Donna Marie Cooper O’Boyle! The event will be presented at the impressive Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. Tickets will be $10.00 each and are available from either a class coordinator or at the conference center box office or online here.

Gesture of honor and gratitude. Once we prepare to begin the program of spiritual exercises, let us give some thought on a gesture of honor and gratitude that we can bestow upon Our Lady as part of our Act of Consecration or Renewal. Perhaps as a group, as one body of Christ, we can ask: “What would Mary do?,” especially as we face special issues that have been laid in front of us to address such as this one.- the humanitarian crisis at our doorstep in deep South Texas. Matt. 25: 40. We don’t help them because they are Catholic; rather, we help them because we are.
