Marian Summer 2016- Houston
Marian Summer in the Bayou City!
For those interested in jump-starting their faith journey and, in particular, becoming better acquainted with our Blessed Mother, RMPTR is coordinating classes in Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary, the spirituality of St. Louis de Montfort, St. Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa and others. To learn more about Total Consecration, visit this page.
The Marian Summer Total Consecration activities in Houston begin on Saturday, July 9th. For those interested in joining the Houston city-wide group, we will meet at a downtown location every Saturday beginning at 6:00 pm. We have selected a downtown location because excited Catholics from Kingwood, League City, Cypress, Pearland, and the Energy Corridor have been called by the Holy Spirit to join as one body of Christ this summer to renew their Baptismal vows and to consecrate their lives, their marriages, and their families to Jesus through a closer relationship with His Mother. The specific downtown location is not fully confirmed but the series of six weekly classes will be held at either be at Holy Rosary Church, Catholic Charities’ main office, a conference room at The Downtown Club, or at Two Allen Center. Visit this website for the final location once finalized in the next day or so.
If cannot make it to the downtown location, you can gather with your family or your neighbors in any location convenient to you and then join the Houston-wide group on Saturdays when you can and later join us as a group for the Mass of Consecration, discussed below.
If you are traveling during this time for family vacations, honeymoons or the like, take your St. Louis de Montfort- based written materials with you and enjoy the related videos with a loved one. You can order the DVDs here, or you can watch the videos online here. When you return, you can attend these weekly classes and join us for the Mass of Consecration.
The Houston Mass of Consecration will be celebrated on Monday, August 15th, the traditional day of the Feast of the Assumption. The Mass will likely be celebrated by Fr. Hugh Gillespie, a Montfort missionary priest and the author of the Preparation materials and video, at a downtown church at 7:00pm on that Monday. Details of the Mass of Consecration will follow. In the days leading to the August 15th Mass, Fr. Hugh will be in the Houston area specifically to share his thoughts on the journey and help us each discern whether we wish to consecrate ourselves, our families and our marriages in this special and intimate way.
For those interested in continuing the Marian Summer faith journey even further, the following Monday, August 22nd, the Marian Summer 2016 group from the Rio Grande Valley, the Diocese of Brownsville, will celebrate their Mass of Consecration at the Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Valle. In the summers of 2010, 2012, and 2014, the mass of consecration at the Basilica was each attended by as many as 2,500 faithful – all dressed in white and all having completed these same 33 days of preparation.
This summer, Marian Summer 2016, we, here in Houston have the unique opportunity to continue our faith journey as we expressly submit ourselves to Mary, the Mother of God, our Blessed Mother.
Ad Jesum per Mariam.
Totus Tuus.
